Welcome to my Global Village trip page!Soon, I will be traveling to work as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, building houses alongside people who need a decent, affordable place to live. Read on to learn more about my trip, Habitat's work and how you can help.

About Our Team

Natural disasters and poverty continue to plague the people of El Salvador. Hundreds of thousands of families live in substandard housing. Others literally have nowhere to call home. Members of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans are making a difference – and not just one family at a time. Entire communities are coming to life through Thrivent Builds Worldwide – El Salvador Community.

From 2009-2010, teams helped build the community of Villa Esperanza: 75 homes, a community center, and a marketplace. In 2011 and 2012 Thrivent Financial is supporting the Getsemeni community in Ahuachapan, just a few miles from Villa Esperanza. Both these communities go far beyond providing a safe home. Residents have opportunities to learn new skills and produce marketable goods or services – ultimately generating sufficient income to break the cycle of poverty.
