About Me

Welcome to my Global Village trip page! This upcoming New Year, I will be traveling abroad to Bali, Indonesia to work as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, building houses alongside people who need a decent, affordable place to live.  I invite you to contribute your financially support in helping me in achieving this goal.  I understand that this will be a challenging goal and any sponsorship amount will be helpful in this task.   Homelessness is a major hindrance to the progress of human beings.  Hundreds and thousands of families are homeless around the world.  I will have the opportunity to change the lives of a family and to try to make a difference by helping to profoundly change their way of life.  I invite you to contribute your financially support in helping me in achieving this goal.  I understand that this will be a challenging goal and any sponsorship amount will be helpful in this task.  All of my life, I have found myself fortunate to have the things that we all have taken for granted most notably a place that we call home.  Many of us, like myself have often times thought of our homes as always being there and not having a thought about the possibility or the idea that one day we may find ourselves homeless.  In January, I will have the opportunity to meet people who were unfortunate enough to have this become their reality but to also be able to help them in achieving their homes again.   I can’t tell you enough how humbling and profound this experience will be for me but I can tell you that this experience will shake to my very core and make me a better person now and in the future.  Achieving this goal and opportunity will take time, effort and support.  I’m hoping that with your help and sponsorship I will be able to make this goal a reality.  Below you will find a link in which you can help support and sponsor my efforts in achieving these goals.   Again, any amount will be helpful and all amounts donated will be tax deductible.  I wanted to thank you in advance for your support and for all your help.   Read on to learn more about my trip, Habitat's work and how you can help.  Thank you!   Best,  Lisa

About Our Team

Add New Title

About 17 percent of the population in Indonesia lives below the poverty line, making less than $1.50 a day, and many more people are classified as “near poor,” vulnerable to even minor changes in their fortunes. Increasingly, poverty is concentrated among rural households that have less access to adequate water and sanitation facilities.Located in the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region of seismic and volcanic activity, Indonesia is frequently affected by earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions.

Habitat for Humanity Indonesia, founded in 1997, uses “Building in Stages” and “Save & Build” concepts. The former enables homeowners to start by building a basic core house that can be extended later depending on the family’s means. The Save & Build housing microfinance model enables homeowner partners to benefit from a savings program established by an entire community.

We invite you to join our Global Village team in partnering with Indonesian families in need to help build safe, affordable, decent homes. There are many ways to be a part of this project. You can donate to an individual team member by clicking on their photo to the left.  You can also share this cause with people in your network. By clicking on the “Share” buttons at the upper right of this page, you can share a link and information about this page on Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, and many other social media sites. You can also use the email tool to invite others to join in partnering with families in need.

Visit this page often. We will post updates, add video and photos, and keep you informed about our progress in Bali. Working together, we can create positive change. Thank you for becoming a part of the Global Village experience!
