About Our Team

Team Goal: $8,000

More than half of the population of Ghana lives in rural areas and small settlements characterized by neglect and decay. With low incomes and no access to housing credit, these families cannot afford to build decent homes or improve what they have. As a result, many people live in cramped, squalid and dangerous conditions. Extended families often share one room, and access to clean water and sanitation is scarce. Leaking roofs and cracked walls are incapable of keeping out heavy rains. The dirt floors are usually infested with parasites. Such conditions not only cause poor health, but also reduce a family’s ability to work and escape the cycle of poverty.

Since its formation in 1987, Habitat for Humanity Ghana has successfully housed thousands of families in safe, affordable homes. It operates through a network of 65 local affiliates throughout the country. The partnership between HFH Ghana and the local communities facilitates the goal of providing shelter for even more families.
